Adrian Courtenay, managing partner at industry-leading security publication GSN: Government Security News, recently attended one of Southwest Microwave’s Intelligent Perimeter Solutions seminars in Newark, New Jersey. Courtenay joined a diverse audience of systems integrators, consultants, architects, engineers and end-user security personnel from across the Northeastern USA to report on this unique educational forum addressing today’s toughest perimeter protection challenges.
During the 3-hour program, moderator Tim Claus emphasized the need to employ appropriate perimeter intrusion detection strategies and equipment to address a facility’s security concerns and threat level, and offered useful techniques for reinforcing a site against harm to infrastructure, assets and personnel. He highlighted application-specific detection solutions, system design considerations, CCTV assessment criteria and performance measures to achieve the highest probability of detection without the nuisance alarm problems that traditionally plague perimeter sensors.
