Tom Gibbons Appointed Sales Manager – U.S. Correctional Systems

Southwest Microwave is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Gibbons as Sales Manager – U.S. Correctional Systems.

A Southwest Microwave employee since 1992, Tom has a unique and varied background with perimeter intrusion detection technologies for the Correctional industry. He spent his early career on the manufacturing side of our business, involved in all aspects of production of Southwest Microwave’s industry-leading Geonet fence detection systems, from fabrication of electronic enclosures to advanced, custom hand wiring of alarm consoles, creation of circuit cards and programming site specific software.

In 2000, Tom moved to our Factory Service department, where he oversaw customer technical support, on-site detection system commissioning and field service for Correctional end users. He was also involved in development of Southwest Microwave’s early-generation INTREPID™ and MICRONET™ fence detection systems, managing installation and testing of beta sites and technical training on these new technologies.

In 2006, Tom transitioned to our Engineering group as an R&D Technician, supporting further product development on INTREPID and MICRONET systems as the product family expanded. He also began working with our microwave / RF products, building and testing prototype sensors and implementing these systems in the field.

Immediately prior to his latest appointment, Tom returned to a senior customer support role in Technical Sales. In managing project specification and site review, pre-sale system design and project quotation activities for many of Southwest Microwave’s most challenging Correctional applications worldwide, Tom has interfaced extensively with A&Es, consultants, integrators and facility managers to address perimeter risk specific to this industry.

Tom Gibbons succeeds Mr. Tom Buckley, our outgoing U.S. Director of Marketing – Correctional Systems, who served in this position for 19 years and retired in October, 2015.
